Dear all,
Time inside Gaza is like being transported back to a different age. A small area under siege, ruled by Hamas, attacked by Israel and the 1.5 million people continue to suffer. I went there to report on daily life and document a world that much of the Western media prefers to ignore or caricature. It was not what I expected. Desperate at times and often infuriating, but also a people that are exhausted of conflict and crave local and international engagement. For example, Israel deliberately targeted the educational institutions during the January conflict.
Gazan voices demand to be heard.
My following work is now available:
- An article in US magazine The Nation about the landscape of destruction in Gaza. http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090817/loewenstein
- An interview on Australia's ABC Radio National about how Gazans are coping after the recent Israeli invasion. http://www.abc.net.au/rn/latenightlive/stories/2009/2648169.htm
- An article in Australian online magazine New Matilda about the continuing blockade. http://newmatilda.com/2009/08/03/view-gaza
Best wishes,
Antony
